LaszloLaw has extensive trial experience in Colorado state courts and various Federal courts. Our attorneys can readily identify reversible errors in a trial record. We work with our clients to determine what errors and issues are worth pursuing on appeal. Simply, not all errors, if reversed, would change the outcome of the case. At LaszloLaw, we provide our clients with a candid assessment of their appellate case and risks and costs associated with an appeal.
Colorado has a two-tier appellate court system – generally, an appeal to the Colorado Court of Appeals originates from the district court. On some occasions, the district court will hear an appeal from a county court. The decision of the Court of Appeals is final unless the Colorado Supreme Court agrees to hear the case.
Similarly, appeals from the United States District Court for the District of Colorado are appealed to the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. The Tenth Circuit also hears appeals from the states of Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Utah, plus those portions of the Yellowstone National Park extending into Montana and Idaho. The federal courts of appeals are the intermediate appellate courts between the district (trial) courts and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Even during the appeals stage, LaszloLaw will always keep the option open for settlement or other, more desirable outcomes.
